One of the things that has always bugged me about Alliance is that the zones don’t really seem to flow into one another at the lower levels. Westfall moves you into Redridge around level 15, leaving you only a few of the early quests to do, but too low for the rest. After Redridge, the natural transition would appear to be Duskwood, but when you get there you find most of the exclamation marks are still silver, and those that are yellow, are mostly for mid 20’s quests anyway. Since I never write my guides to level as quickly as possible, I am happy to travel to make the leveling process easier. For this, we travel to Ashenvale!

To get to Ashenvale, you need to make your way back to Loch Modan (Stormwind > Tram to Ironforge > Fly to Loch Modan), and then run north to the North Gate Pass. Note that you want the one at the top, do not veer to the one on the left or you will end up back in Dun Morogh. As you reach the tunnels, you will see Mountaineer Rockgar and he should have a quest for you:

[21] The Algaz Gauntlet
Obtained from : Mountaineer Rockgar, Dun Algaz, Loch Modan
Objective : Kill 8 x Dragonmaw Scouts and 8 Dragonmaw Grunts
Rewards : 1250 XP

You can do this quest on your way through the Wetlands as the Scouts and Grunts you need are between the second and third section of tunnels. When you come out of the second tunnel, you should be able to see them on your left. Once you have killed all that you need, continue through the tunnel system to the end where it opens up to the Wetlands. At the end of the third tunnel you should receive your complete message traversing Dun Algaz, you can now make your way to Menethil to hand in – just follow the path.

[21] Daily Delivery
Obtained from : Einar Stonegrip, Wetlands
Objective : Delivery the Crocolisk skins to Menethil
Rewards : 825 XP

You will pass Einar on your way to Menethil if you’re following the path, and as his quest requires you to deliver something to where you’re heading, you might as well pick it up. You will find James Halloran to your right as you enter. (Valstag Ironjaw will be directly ahead for The Algaz Gauntlet quest…)

It’s up to you if you want to grab the couple of quests available to you here, but like Duskwood most will require you to gain a level or two. Alliance has all the questing zones available to them like Horde, you just have to travel a little further. For now, we’re going to jump onto the boat that arrives at the right hand dock (if you’re facing out to sea) and head to Darkshore. Be sure to grab your flight path before you head out…

When you get off the boat, head into Auberdine (main town), grab your flight path and then follow the main road south all the way to Ashenvale.

[21] The Zoram Strand Obtained from : Shindrell Swiftfire, Astranaar, Ashenvale Objective : Collect 20 x Wrathtail Heads Rewards : 1450 XP Because it appears that some quests won’t actually open up until you’re level 20, and I was only three bubbles off, I decided to quickly do this one. As the quest title gives away, you need to head to The Zoram Strand to find the Wrathtails. At the north-west corner of the map, the Wrathtails are easy to kill and drop a head every time, very easy quest. [20] The Ancient Statuette Obtained from : Talen, The Zoram Strand, Ashenvale Objective : Retrieve the Ancient Statuette Rewards : 1150 XP

Sitting at the base of the lower cliffs along The Zoram Strand is Talen, he was attacked by Naga while in his vessel and has lost his statuette. If you run north along the shore line, you will come across a large tree trunk laying half in the water, half up on the beach. Floating out in the water is Talens boat, and just the rocks there, you will find the statuette.

[25] Ruuzel
Obtained from : Talen, The Zoram Strand, Ashenvale
Objective : Retrieve the Ring of Zoram
Rewards : 2550 XP

When you return the statuette to Talen, he discovers that it’s locked and he can’t get it open. Apparently the key is in fact a ring, and this ring is in Ruuzel’s possession. If you run to the very north tip of The Zoram Strand you will see a small island about 10 feet out from the shore – Ruuzel resides on this island.
Although the quest is level 25, Ruuzel herself is only level 22, but does come with two bodyguards. Ruuzel and her friends do laps of the island, so if you’re careful (and patient) and clear all the other mobs from the island first, you can pull and use your fear safely to take down Ruuzel. If you’re playing a Warlock, you should have little trouble taking them down with your DoT’s and your fear.

[19] Raene’s Cleansing
Obtained from : Raene Wolfrunner, Astranaar, Ashenvale
Objective : Find Teronis
Rewards : 1450 XP

On your way back from the Zoram strand, stop past Lake Falathim to see Teronis, you will locate him on the small island in the middle of the lake – of which you must kill your way through the Murlocs to reach.

[21] Raene’s Cleansing
Obtained from : Teronis’ Corpse, Lake Falathim, Ashenvale
Objective : Retrieve the Glowing Gem
Rewards : 1250 XP

After you have found Teronis’ corpse, you need to kill the Murlocs that surround the lake until one of them drops a Glowing Gem. The kicker here is that it can drop on your 1st kill… or your 100th. I just did laps of the lake killing any Murloc that moved until mine dropped – it’s all good XP.

Once you have it in your possession, make your way to Raene Wolfrunner in Astranaar.

[20] Bathran’s Hair
Obtained from : Orendil Broadleaf, Maestra’s Post, Ashenvale
Objective : Collect 5 x Bathran’s Hair
Rewards : 775 XP

On your way back to Astranaar, stop past Maestra’s post to grab this quest from Orendil if you haven’t got it already (requires level 20). From Maestra’s Post, make your way north and slightly east to Bathran’s Haunt and The Ruins of Ordil’Aran.

In and around the ruins will be “plant bundles”- think miniature hay stacks. These are your hairs and you need to collect 5. The mobs are humanoid, forsaken. Once you have your 5 hairs, return to Orendil. Pick up the next step, Orandil’s Cure (1950 xp) and head back into Astranaar, you will find Pelturas Whitemoon in the small building at the far side of the town.

[22] Elune’s Tear
Obtained from : Pelturas Whitemoon, Astranaar, Ashenvale
Objective : Return 1 Elune’s Tear
Rewards : 1750 XP

Heading east out of Astranaar, you should see a dirt path of sorts running up the left hand side of a river. If you follow this path up and around you will come to Iris Lake. Fight through the Moss Eaters to the island in the middle, the tears are the white things on the ground.

Once you have your tear, make your way back to the main path either via the way you came, or by jumped down the waterfall and following the river. Once you are there, continue your way east to find Shael’dryn.

[21] Raene’s Cleansing

Objective : Find Shael’dryn
Rewards : 825 XP

If you haven’t done this before, she can be a bit tricky to locate. Continuing east along the path, you are looking for the major opening on your left after the river. You’ll have to kill your way through bears, but at the top you should be able to see a pathway leading into the moonwell and there you will find Shael’dryn.

Note : Directly after the river there is a small alcove to your left, you don’t want this opening – you want the next one.

[23] The Ruins of Stardust
Obtained from : Pelturas Whitemoon, Astranaar, Ashenvale
Objective : Gather 5 x Handfuls of Stardust
Rewards : 1850 XP

After I had seen Shael’dryn, I made my way back to Pelturas to give his daughter the Elune’s Tear. The next step requires you to head south of Astranaar to the Ruins of Stardust. If you once again head east out of Astranaar, you should see a path veer off to the right of the main just meters after the bridge. Follow this path and it will lead you right to the Ruins of Stardust, once there kill your way to the island in the middle and loot the sparkly bushes.

After collecting my 5 handfuls of stardust, I decided to take the shortcut through to Stonetalon and get those quests out of my log. Heading esat along the zone wall from the ruins of stardust, you will find The Talondeep Path, follow that through to the other side and you will find yourself in Stonetalon.

[21] Super Reaper 6000
Obtained from : Ziz Fizziks, Windshear Grag, Stonetalon Mountains
Objective : Retrieve the Super Reaper 6000 Blueprints
Rewards : 1650 XP

If you kill your way across Windshear Grag from the Tanlondeep Path, you will find Ziz Fizziks in a small hit nestled away from the opposite side. Ziz wants you to retrieve the Super Reaper 6000 Blueprints from one of the Venture Co. Operators. If you head back out into the main area, you should be able to see a large bulldozer not far out from Ziz, you will find some operators lurking around and one of them should drop the blueprints for you.

[21] On Guard in Stonetalon
Obtained from : Sentinel Thenysil, Astranaar, Ashenvale
Objective : Find Kaela Shadowspear in Stonetalon Mountains
Rewards : 825 XP

Overlooking Windshear Grag, almost directly above Ziz Fizziks, you will find Kaela. After speaking to her, she will direct you to speak to Gaxim, the gnome just near her. Gaxim then wants you to kill some Venture Co, so if you grab this before heading in to get the Blueprints, you can complete both quests at the same time.

[21] A Gnome’s Respite
Obtained from : Gaxim Rustfizzle, Webwinder Path, Ashenvale
Objective : Kill 10 x Venture Co. Loggers and 10 x Venture Co. Deforesters
Rewards : 1650 XP

After you have killed all your Loggers, Deforesters and collected your Blueprints, head back to hand in. Ziz gives you a letter to deliver to Ratchet, which Gaxim sends you to Ironforge and Stormwind.

[21] Pridewings of Stonetalon
Obtained from : Shindrell Swiftfire, Astranaar, Ashenvale
Objective : Collect 12 x Pridewing Venom Sacs
Rewards : 1650 XP

Continuing my way north from Windshear Grag, I stopped for a bit at Mirkfallon Lake to kill the Pridewing Wyverns and collect the venom sacks. Be aware that it can take a couple of laps around to get all 12, but the XP is nice. After I collected my 12, I continued north, right up to the Alliance outpost – Stonetalon Peak.

[18] Journey to Stonetalon Peak
Obtained from : Faldreas Goeth’Shael, Astranaar, Ashenvale
Objective : See Keeper Albagorm in Stonetalon
Rewards : 675 XP

After handing in to Keeper Albagorm, I took a flight pack to Astranaar to hand in the Pridewing Venom Sacs and the handfuls of stardust.

[25] Culling the Threat Obtained from : Raene Wolfrunner, Astranaar, Ashenvale Objective : Retrieve Dal Bloodclaws Skull Rewards : 2000 XP Dal Bloodclaws roams around the top end of Thistelfur Vullage, just north of Astranaar. If you follow the road west out of Astranaar, you will see a dirt path of sorts leading north, at the top you will find Thistlefur Village. Dal Bloodclaws is a darker green version of the Thistlefurs and roams between the camps in front of the cave, up through to the very back of the village. Easily solo’d, you can wait till he is away from the major camps and on his own to pull. Once you have his skull, return to Astranaar to hand in.

[24] An Aggressive Defense
Obtained from : Raene Wolfrunner, Astranaar, Ashenvale
Objective : Slaughter the Foulweald
Rewards : 1950 XP

After handing in Dal’s skull, I continued east out of Astranaar. If you keep your eye on the right hand side of the path, you will come across a section that has a dirt path leading down to where you should be able to see some Foulweald Furbolgs. Greenpaw Village is where you will find your Totemics, Warriors and Ursa’s you need to kill. With the mobs ranging around the mid 20’s, you should have little trouble taking them down if you’re careful. (Especially if you’re a Warlock!)

[24] Elemental Bracers
Obtained from : Sentinel Velene Starstrike, Silverwind Refuge, Ashenvale
Objective : Collect 5 Intact Elemental Bracers
Rewards : 1950 XP

Just south of Greenpaw Village is the Silverwind Refuge nestled along Mystral Lake. Sentinel Velene inside would like you to collect 5 Intact Elemental Bracers and then use the Divined scroll on them. The bracers drop from the water elementals which you will find around the outside the lake as well as in the water. (Unending Breath comes in real handy here…)

The drop rate is pretty good, so once you have your 5 bracers, head back into Silverwind Refuge. Right click on the divined scroll (looks like a stamina scroll) and the question mark above Velene’s head should change to yellow.
The next step sends you into The Barrens, but I decided that was a bit far to run for now…

I made my way back to Astranaar and handed in the aggressive defense quest before gating back to Ironforge and then back home to Stormwind. The three quests I had left in my log were a little high for my current level.

Note : Don’t forget to hand in the quests from Stonetalon at Ironforge and Stormwind. 825 xp each hand in – I didn’t do the second stages of either…
